What Cross-Organization Collaboration Taught Me About Community Marketing

A Women’s Empowerment event on campus became a real lesson in alignment: when multiple organizations clarify the same mission, the impact grows far beyond any single event.

To close out Women’s History Month, I kept coming back to one idea: the Women’s Empowerment event we held earlier this spring worked because it was bigger than any one organization.

The event brought together Sigma Gamma Rho, Sigma Lambda Gamma, and other campus groups around a shared purpose: creating a space where women could access leadership resources, connection, and encouragement in one place. What stood out to me was not only the event itself, but the structure behind it. Alignment made the experience stronger.

That kind of coordination matters in marketing too. When messaging, audience, and purpose are scattered, even good efforts lose force. But when teams align around a clear intention, the impact compounds. That is what I saw here.

I’m especially grateful to our advisors, Ariana Flores and Margarete Ishizaka, for helping guide the process. This experience reminded me that thoughtful collaboration is not just a leadership skill. It is also a communication skill.
